My Story

This is the story of how I started doing permanent makeup in Florida and how I started my St. Pete Beach spa 20 years ago!

Before opening my Florida day spa, I began my career as an administrative assistant. I worked in that industry for over 10 years, I knew there was something else I wanted to do. I always loved working with people, but I wanted to do more hands on service work.

In the mid 80's I worked part-time as a make up artist applying cosmetic makeup and polishing hands and feet. I realized that I had been in the wrong line of work. I belonged in the service industry. When I applied makeup to the face, I became more interested in the skin, the base that the makeup would be applied to. Everyone was so different. I knew it was important for the skin to be properly cared for. When I polished hands and feet, I wanted them to look clean and perfect. I decided to give up the office industry and go into the service industry.

After completing my specialty education in skin and nail care, I decided to take a chance and open my own studio. I wanted to do everything myself and become the best that I could be in all of my services.

I founded Soft Touch Studio in January 1991. The services offered were facials, manicures, pedicures, waxing, lash and brow tinting.

After several years, I wanted to learn about Permanent Makeup. I do not wear makeup very often. My brows were disappearing, my lips were fading and I did not like putting on makeup. So, I had permanent makeup applied to myself to see how it would feel. At first, I had my permanent makeup applied by an electrical device. It was very uncomfortable with the electrical device. I want my clients to be as comfortable as possible during all services. I investigated further and found out about the hand method technique of applying permanent makeup. I became a model at first to get the feel of the hand method technique. It was not uncomfortable. I knew it would be the perfect service to add to my menu. I became certified in Permanent Makeup in 1997. I began applying permanent to existing and new clients using the hand method technique.

Educating myself and my clients is a priority at Soft Touch Studio, teaching clients how to keep their skin clear, fresh, energized and young looking with at home treatments. I continue my education because I never want to stop learning and improving my techniques. I use all products and experience all services before introducing them to my clients.

In this day of Groupons, Crowd Pleasers, Living Socials and other discount offerings, it’s hard not to be tempted to try establishments offering reduced rates for services.
